| Je verrais bien Jewell ou Charles en super-lourds ,Nguyen chez les lourds et Matthews en lourds-légers .
De manière générale ,le niveau me parait bien plus faible que les années précédentes . |

| THE HARRIS REPORT: Friday Night Pre-Judging at the 2011 NPC Nationals FRIDAY NIGHT RECAP 2011 NPC Nationals by Ron Harris While the South Beach nightlife is heating up all around us, TEAM MD is spending the weekend hard at work covering the 2011 NPC Nationals. Over 900 competitors will take the stage between Friday night and Saturday morning’s pre-judging in what will amount to over twelve hours of non-stop bodybuilding, figure, bikini, and physique coverage. The action kicked off with men’s bodybuilding, and six pro cards are on the line (one for the winner of each weight class). For complete details as they happened, check out the TEAM MD PLAY-BY-PLAY featuring Shawn Ray, George Farah, Jose Raymond, and Steve Kuclo. If you’re looking for a more stream-lined report, we brought the best bodybuilding scribe in the business, Ron Harris, for the MD RECAP! Check out what Ron has to say below and tune back in to MD shortly for the recap video! Bantamweight This is the very lightest of the weight classes, which is why it was a little disappointing that not one of the 25 men here had shredded glutes. Still, two men stood out from the pack. One was Heath Warren, with great overall shape and well-built wheels. The other was New Jersey’s Ron Hackaspker, a multiple class winner at the Team Universe and a world-class powerlifter. Honorable mention goes to George Gibson, a veteran of the national level and who, at over 50, shows incredible muscle maturity. Lightweight It’s odd how something like color can affect an outcome, but I fear that may be the case with Christopher McCalop from Texas. His muddy tone obscured his sharp cuts and made it seem as if he wasn’t in the true condition he was. As such, I have a feeling the thick and ripped Luis Moreno, from right here in Miami, might overtake him. Former USA class winner Kelly Bautista is also in the running here. Welterweight If we’re talking about the best overall package, I give this class to Julius Rumingan from Orlando. Facially, he reminds me of Kevin Levrone, and with a killer blend of mass, round muscle bellies, and an ideal structure, Julius easily seems to be about 20 pounds heavier than his actual 164 pounds. Indiana’s J.B. Bartlett is breathing right down his neck, and if condition is the deciding factor, this guy kills it. Pre-contest favorite Victor Delcampo is thick and in shape, but he lacks the aesthetic shape and structure of the other two. Middleweight This class seems to be going to Alan Bailey from Atlanta, who has the best combo of size, shape and condition. I hate to single anyone out as blowing it, but this is yet another time I’ve seen Ronald Torres from Texas and asked, dude, what the fuck? With his shape and symmetry, he reminds me of Lee Labrada. He’s never in shape, and he never has enough color on. Seriously, Ronald, if you read this, this show is yours to win when you come in shredded and dark. A lot of guys would kill for your physique. Light Heavyweight When Cory Matthews from Arlington, Texas comes in hard as nails, no one is touching him. He might even win this class, but I’m not confident he will. This guy has one of the thickest, roundest physiques in the whole contest. You would swear he was 230 pounds, easily. But the class will probably go to the pre-contest favorite Darron “Hollywood” Glenn, who does have nice shape and was very lean. He does need to control his breathing better, because at times his gut was protruding. Another strong competitor in this class was Marco Rivera from the Bronx. Actually, in terms of condition, he out-shredded Darron by a wide margin. Heavyweight Now we’re getting into the big boys. USA runner-up, An Nguyen, came here to win, and win he shall. It was one of the few classes where one man simply stood out. Trained by Charles Glass, An has it all: mass, structure, a small waist, and he was shredded. I was puzzled at the fact that Armon Adibi from Texas was not called out until the third group, meaning he probably won’t be any higher than tenth place. He was wide, thick, ripped, and when the whole group came out, I figured he would be the runner-up to An. Special mention needs to go to the youngest guy in the class, 22-year-old Justin Compton from Kentucky – future star for sure! Super Heavyweight In terms of shape and structure, I liked Drew Jemmot from New Jersey to win this class. What an insane V-taper! But Washington’s Todd Jewell totally out-muscled him with 25 more pounds at about the same height and better condition. When a guy shows up with this much size, and in such crazy condition, it’s just very tough to beat. Max Charles looked really good too, as did Brian Yerskey and Blair Mone. But it’s clear that Todd is the man to beat now, not only for this class but for the Overall title too. |
