Mia Finnegan has fitness in her blood: her family tree includes two of the pioneers in body building and fitness training. She is the great granddaughter of Professor Attila, "The Father of the Physical Culture," who trained Sandow the strongman in the 1880's. Mia's uncle, Siegmund Klein, was well known for the gyms he owned in New York and for the many strength and balancing records he held. He was featured in "Ripley's Believe it or Not" in the 1930's and invented the Klein bells and "in-klein" bench.
Mia began her own foyer into the world of fitness at the age of eight as a competitive gymnast in her hometown of Portsmouth, RI. During her junior high and high school years, she won numerous local, regional and national titles and was an all-state gymnast. She attended Springfield College in Massachusetts where she held school gymnastics records for floor, balance beam and uneven bars, earning a ranking of sixth nationally during her senior year. She graduated in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in psychology with an emphasis in health fitness and shortly thereafter moved to California with her future husband, Rich Finnegan, founder of True Fitness, a full-service fitness training and nutrition counseling service.
Mia is host of The Health Network show , "Fitting it in", and appears regularly on ESPN, ESPN2, QVC, International Shopping Channels and in, among others, Shape, Fit Magazine, VIE, Oxygen, Muscle & Fitness, Flex, Ironman, Muscle Mag International, Muscular Development, Muscle Media 2000, Body's Magazine, Italy and numerous other international fitness magazines. In addition, she is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as a consultant to the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for California. She has appeared on Extra, Entertainment Tonight and Live with Regis and Kathy Lee. Mia had her best achievement yet when her son Noah Finnegan was born on October 4, 1999.
Mia co-owns and operates "Finnegan Fitness "™ a personal training and nutrition service in South Kingstown, RI, while at the same time, developing her own lines of fitness, health, beauty and nutritional products for distribution through the shopping channels, infomercials, and major retailers together with her husband Ritch. Mia and Ritch have trained over 160 fitness competitors including Ms. Natural Universe, Ms. Natural World Cup, Ms. Natural USA and Ms. Natural California and has also helped contestants prepare and win both the Miss Universe and Miss Mexico beauty pageants. Mia continues to pursue her goals to educate the masses regarding the benefits of a healthy , fit and active lifestyle.
